Things to know when you go for your driver’s license
Before applying for a driving license, you must have a learner’s license.
Because we offer lessons for a Code B/08 License, this is what you should know about Code B/08: This is for a motor vehicle, including a minibus, bus and goods vehicle, with a gross vehicle mass not exceeding 3 500kg.
You must be 18 years or older to apply for your driver’s license. In other words, on the day of your test, you should be 18 years or older.
Remember to take the following documents:
• Identity Document (ID)
• Valid Learner’s License
• Take 4 ID size photos
• Proof of residence
Driver’s License Tips
• Know the rules of the road and road signs. Refresh your memory if you wrote your learner’s license a while ago.
• Ensure that you know your test date. If you are a student, ensure that your test/exam dates don’t clash with your driver’s test. If you are employed, ensure that you take time off work.
• Don’t tell everyone about your driver’s test. This will put pressure on you ahead of your test.
• Learn the pre-trip inspection well.
• Arrive early for your test. Doing so will help you remain calm.
• Focus on the road and what you are doing. Small mistakes happen and you need focus on the remainder of the test. You are allowed to lose a certain amount of points during the test, but rolling the car, crossing the white line or hitting pedestrians will result in an instant fail.
• Be sure to thank the examiner who examined you at the end of your test.
